As our HSE Coordinator you:
- Facilitate positive change by developing or assisting with the implementation of new health and safety policies, programs, procedures, legislation and equipment.
- Ensure compliance and enforcement of the safety policies and programs for the Plan Group and Constructors.
- Coordinate and mentor project safety & health walk-through assessments with supervision. Review any assessment findings with appropriate parties. Follow up by documenting the items which require immediate correction.
- Research new health and safety advancements (i.e. EWPs, Arc Flash gear, etc).
- Assist in auditing safety programs to initiate improvements wherever possible.
- Assist in tracking incident statistics to develop proactive control measures.
- Assist with worker’s compensation (WCA) and RTW programs.
- Take an active role in the internal and external safety committees.
- Develop or assist in developing training programs and documentation for internal training.
- Coordinate and provide safety training to workers at all levels (e.g. Fire Safety, WHMIS, Fall Protection, Lift Training, New Hire Orientation, etc.).
- Act as one of the primary contacts for health and safety related issues, requests, questions and concerns.
- Advise employees, Supervision and Project Management regarding health and safety related information (e.g. OHSA, Regulations, Standards, Constructor Policies, etc.).
- Coordinate and maintain all safety related information and documentation with the Health and Safety Department.
- Communicate with suppliers for new product advancements, product deliveries, WHMIS or other safety related information.
- Investigate near misses, unsafe conditions and incidents (serious or otherwise).
- Communicate with supervisors, workers, union, the MOL inspectors and Constructors when necessary.
- Motivate employees to get involved with new policies and support a positive health and safety culture.
Our ideal candidate has:
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is required
- 3 years of safety experience in the construction industry.
- Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe.
- Experience/interest in developing and promoting employee health & wellness programs and initiatives.
